Fertility Monitor

A fertility monitor is a helpful tool for couples that find achieving pregnancy difficult. These monitors allow a couple to easily identify fertile days and greatly increase their odds of conception.

A fertility monitor actually monitors ovulation. There are only a few days each month that a woman has an ovum ready to be fertilized. Knowing exactly when the conditions are just right is the object of the monitor for fertility. Of course, these monitors will not guarantee that you will become pregnant but many couples have successfully achieved pregnancy using this type of tool.

There are many types of fertility monitors available on the market. You can find them online or in your local drugstore. Some use the method of placing a test stick in a collected urine sample and are the least expensive type of monitor. However, they can be messy to use and may not be as reliable as some of the more advanced types of monitors.

Some of the more advanced fertility monitors may, at first, appear to be a little on the expensive side. However, if you have looked into the cost of fertility treatments such as drug therapy, artificial insemination, fetal implant or others, you will find the most expensive monitor to be a great value.

These fertility monitors are easy to use. First you select a time each day that you will always be available to perform the simple test. Many people prefer the morning when they first get out of bed. Most monitors allow a testing window of six hours. On the first day of your cycle, you set the monitor, usually by pressing a button. The advanced monitors of fertility will alert you when it is time to perform the test. The monitor usually requires that the test stick be held in the stream of urine for about three seconds and the monitor, containing a small sample of urine is then capped. When the test time has completed, the device will flash a signal, but if you happen to forget to watch it, most of the testers will shut off automatically and you simply turn it back on when you return. The test stick will then be removed and read. You'll learn if fertility is peak, high or low. That way, sexual activities can be planned for the greatest possibility of conception.

Some of the most advanced, and therefore most expensive, fertility monitors will actually learn your personal pattern after a few months of use. After the first month, you may not be asked to test until after Day Six of your cycle. If you continue to require the use of the monitor, it may soon tell you to test only after a different number of days. This allows you to use fewer test strips and save money.

Fertility monitors vary widely in cost. They can cost as much as $200 or more for the most advanced, full feature models. Some are available for only one-fourth of that price or less. Most test kits come with only 30 strips for monitoring fertility. This means you want to be certain you can purchase additional strips in case you need to use the monitor for several months to achieve your goal of becoming pregnant. Yet, even the most costly monitor is affordable compared to many other options like medical intervention which can cost thousands and thousands of dollars without any guarantee of success.

There are many reviews of various fertility monitors available in consumer publications, online, or your doctor may recommend a specific type or brand name that has succeeded for his patients most often. Select a monitor made by a reputable company that is simple and easy to use.

If you choose to use a fertility monitor and do not get pregnant the first month, there is no reason to be discouraged. Continue to monitor peak fertility times and take advantage of the most likely times to achieve pregnancy. It is not uncommon to take several months for a healthy couple to become pregnant.

If, after as much as one year of carefully following this plan, you have not gotten pregnant, you may wish to look into other options available such as fertility testing to learn if, in fact, all the needed sperm and ova are available to create your much wanted child. Even if you learn there is a problem or challenge to achieving pregnancy, there are many options available that can help.

It only makes sense to begin with fertility monitors as the first step toward achieving pregnancy if you don't become pregnant easily after trying without any type of help for a few months. Not only is the process affordable compared to other options but it doesn't require a lot of time and really does increase the chances that a fertile egg will become lodged in the uterus and a successful pregnancy result.

Above all, when using fertility monitors, don't become discourage. Mood and emotion has a great deal to do with the human body hormones and fertility. Don't feel pressured or place pressure on your partner. This can greatly help your chances while timing your intercourse based on the results of your monitor for fertility testing results.
