Use an Ovulation Calculator: Fertility Times Easily Tracked

Many people use charts to track fertility but you can use a calculator; fertility times can be easily tracked and you'll know when to attempt to achieve pregnancy. But, in order to effectively use these calculators, you need to know a few facts about your personal cycle.

The first piece of information most calculators for fertility will request is the date of your first day of your last menstrual period. This is important and, if you are trying to become pregnant, you need to track the days of your period each month.

You also need to know the average length of your menstrual cycle in days. This can range from 22 to as much as 45 days and is, on average 28 days. However, if you think you are average, you very well may be wrong! You need to track your cycle for several months before using a calculator; fertility won't be accurate if you don't do this simple step first.

You also need to know your average Luteal Phase Length in days. This number usually ranges from 9 to 16 days but the average is 11 days. This is actually the period from actual ovulation to the beginning of menstruation. This period can be determined by using a fertility monitoring device and tracking the days of high and peak fertility over a period of several months.

Once you have gathered the necessary information, you can easily locate a free calculator; fertility calculators are quite common online and usually free to use. Some can be downloaded as software and installed on your home computer.

After you input the information, you will learn the estimated date of ovulation for that cycle. From that date until the end of the Luteal Phase, your body could become pregnant. The peak periods are usually on the day of ovulation and several days thereafter, so that is the best time to engage in intercourse as often as possible.

Many calculations, fertility-related, will also predict the due date of the child if pregnancy occurs during that cycle. Some even tell you, if today's date is after the date of your expected ovulation, what the age of the fetus would be if pregnancy where to be achieved on the day of ovulation.

The calculator for fertility tracking is a helpful tool, easy to use and costs nothing. If you are early in the process of attempting to become pregnant, it is a great tool to use. If, after 6 to 12 months of practicing frequent intercourse during fertile periods, then it would be best to move to another method of determining more accurately the best times for attempting to become pregnant or perhaps you'll want to talk to your doctor for advice.
